CAIRO | 2ND AFRICA SMART GRID FORUM

Under the auspices and addressed by H.E. Sherif Ismail, Prime Minister of Egypt, the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy (MOERE) is hosting the 2nd Africa Smart Grid Forum 2016 from 5-7 March 2016 at the Semiramis Intercontinental Hotel in Cairo, Egypt in collaboration with the African Electrotechnical Standardization Commission (AFSEC), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), and the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC).

 

 

 

The forum will welcome over 500 international experts and managers including 50 AFSEC members coming from Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia, Sudan, Senegal, Rwanda, Namibia, DRC and Cote d’Ivore who will join to learn about the latest developments in the field of Smart Grids, understand its benefits for Africa and be able to develop a strategy for the emerging economies of the African countries.
The forum, building on the success of the first Africa Smart Grid Forum held in Abidjan in May 2014, targets decision makers, organizers, investors, experts and suppliers of solutions from various industries to network and share experiences in:

 

Smart grids as a source of electrification of Africa
Technological shift towards Smart Grids
Evolution of regulations and standards inherent to Smart Grids
The role of renewable energy technologies and distributed generation
Performance of the public Smart Grids for electricity distribution
Solutions provided by enterprises and suppliers

Africa Smart Grid Forum 2016 brings industry and utility leaders together with global and continental experts and suppliers of technology to discuss the promises accessible for the continent by smart grid technologies and related industries. The forum, which will include a trade exhibition, will develop recommendations based upon the outcomes of the different sessions to provide guidance for electricity sector stakeholders to the opportunities that lie ahead.
